Trio With iPhones : Los Angeles County Museum of Art
Recently took the family to LACMA to meet friends and see the Calder exhibit (which is terrific). While we all no doubt do it as an appreciation of the places we visit, it is ironic how readily we are face down in our iDevices while surrounded by such organic, unplugged, beauty and transmission. On entering LACMA, I walked into the coffee shop and immediately posted a shot of the countdown clock installation from my iPhone (which I’ll post later). Everywhere people are filming, snapping selfies, and integrating their devices into the experience of art (and music, etc.) But the Calder exhibit forbade photos - and the almost stillness, low murmurs, and mental imprint are all I walked away with, and they are enough.
